Justgogirl and A Touchy Subject

Just want to give a warning here real quick, any guys reading this blog might want to take a break right now. Like maybe leave until the next post? Just go kaput for a little bit:) Okay, only ladies reading now, right? NO MEN!!! Do any of you participate in sports? I am not a member of an organized sports team, but I exercise or workout daily. This includes my Zumba, racquetball, jogging and kickboxing. I talk with many women who have a daily schedule of hard exercise and we all seem to have at least one thing in common. And that would be...wait for it...athletic leaks. And yes, I know a lot of females don't like talking about this subject, it is delicate and kind of touchy but there is no embarrassment in this ladies. We need not be ashamed of something that happens naturally. For many women leakage happens after childbirth. Which is no surprise. But where most ladies feel uncomfortable is when that leak comes while exercising. Do you know the percentage of women who have to deal with athletic leaks on a daily basis? One out of three women!! These are mainly mothers who have difficulty holding it in, but it is amazing how many are women who sneeze or laugh and have an accidental leak.

For me, it only happens on occasion. But I personally know others for whom this is a daily occurrence. And this product I want to tell you about works for both groups. Whether you have children and your leaks only happen because of that, or you only have leaks during exercise, laughing, etc. Justgogirl has the solution for all women everywhere. The pads they make are the perfect size, they stay in place and most of all, are comfortable for daily use. Believe me, I have tried these and I love them! I don't have to worry about it leaking or tearing(you can laugh but I have had my pads tear before and it isn't nice!) or being totally clear to everyone else you are wearing a pad. For any woman who has a problem with leaks, please take a couple minutes to check this company out. They have a 2 pad sample pack where you just pay the shipping price. You will absolutely love how these feel!!

New from Quilts of Love | A Stitch in Crime Kindle Fire Giveaway!

New from Abingdon Press’ Quilts of Love series | A Stitch in Crime
Thea’s first quilt show is coming apart at the seams!
Thea James has accepted an assignment as co‑chairperson for Larkindale’s first quilt show extravaganza. Juggling the new assignment with running her antique business, she’s already feeling frayed when things start to unravel.
Mary‑Alice Wentworth, a much‑loved town matriarch, respected quilt judge, and Thea’s dear friend, is covertly conked on the head during the kick‑off Quilt Show Soiree, throwing suspicion on her guests. It also appears that a valuable diamond brooch has been stolen during the attack. The family is furious. But is it because of their mugged mother or the missing diamonds?
When a renowned textile expert goes MIA and the famous Wentworth heritage quilt disappears, Larkindale’s reputation as a tourist haven is at risk. Thea attempts to piece the mystery together and save the town’s investment in the quilt show before Mary‑Alice is attacked again . . . with far worse results.

MY REVIEW-I have really enjoyed the books I have read in the Quilts of Love series. This one here was one of my favorites though, probably because of the mystery aspect that runs through the whole book. I had a hard time guessing who had done the crime and it was different than I expected! This is almost like a cozy mystery but still a lot of spunk in it. Especially with a heroine like Thea! I loved her! At times unsure of herself but then steps up to the plate when need be. The secondary characters were more like main characters and I thoroughly fell in love with the whole book. Fun and sweet I will be watching for other books by this author in the future.

Amp Up Your Study with the Evangelism Study Bible!

Evangelism can mean many things to many people. For some, it's something that requires special training or a calling from God. For others, it's something only done in a church building or arena. And for some, it evokes emotions of guilt and shame for failing to be a vibrant witness to unbelievers.

For more than forty years, EvanTell, Inc., an evangelism training and outreach ministry in Dallas, Texas, has focused on one mission: the gospel, clear and simple. Founded by Dr. R. Larry Moyer, EvanTell, Inc., touches millions of lives each year with evangelism materials, evangelism training, and outreach events.
Now those four decades of experience in training believers to share the good news in a clear and simple fashion has been paired with the one essential tool for evangelism: God's Word.The Evangelism Study Bible provides all the tools needed for sharing the gospel in a clear, simple, and guilt-free way.

Using the highly regarded New King James Version®, The Evangelism Study Bible brings together a wide variety of resources, some never before paired with the text of Scripture. Users will benefit from:
* a brief, informative introduction to each Bible book, focusing on its contribution to evangelism
* more than 2,600 study notes pertaining to evangelism
* over 260 tips on practical issues in evangelism
* 125 in-depth articles on crucial issues
* 85 how-to features that provide hands-on advice
* 45 inspirational devotions
* easy-to-follow double-column format with explanatory notes
* helpful cross references
* biblical concordance
* full-color maps

The Evangelism Study Bible not only provides the training to explain and make clear the good news of the gospel, it also will motivate readers to evangelize out of grace rather than guilt.

MY THOUGHTS-I am an avid study person. I love taking notes, writing in my Bible, etc. But one thing I struggle with is witnessing. Evangelism is a very tough area for many people, me included. It tends to push us out of our comfort zone and into other people's personal space. Getting into conversations can be quite difficult. I have read many books about witnessing and found a few that I like and are on my shelf. But I had never seen a Bible quite like this one before, The Evangelism Study Bible. This is hardback and jam packed with over 2,000 study notes that are relevant in today's society. I couldn't believe when I saw it!

There are places to take notes but the thing I fell in love with were the notes from Larry Moyer. He takes verses that may not be as easy to discern their meaning and walks the reader through it.  These are clear and concise tips as well as a walk-through of giving the Gospel, things to avoid, points to use, etc.

If you are looking for a gift, this would be excellent for any man or woman who not only likes to witness but for the one who needs help in evangelizing. Perfect!!

The New Action Bible Found at Family Christian Stores!! #FCblogger

Have any of you heard of the Action Bible before? I had heard of it but never really seen it. The youngest in our house is a little bit too old for it but I am constantly on the lookout for items I know my readers would enjoy. I know many of you have younger children or grandchildren and this is a Bible I am sure you would be interested in. And this is not only for the boys but I know many girls who would love it:)

The Action Bible comes not only in hardcover and softcover but also in audiobook! Your children can listen as they go to bed or you can turn it on in the vehicle. I was impressed with the sample I was sent and I can see why this is so popular. Great as a gift! Make sure to put this on your purchase list and at this price you can get one for every child you know:) This just released earlier this month and Family Christian has a great deal on it!

Hawk by Ronie Kendig Book #Review

ABOUT BOOK: Raptor’s communications expert, Staff Sergeant Brian “Hawk” Bledsoe is struggling with his inner demons, leaving him on the verge of an “other than honorable” discharge. Plagued with corrupted intel, Raptor team continues to track down the terrorist playing chess with their lives. Afghan pilot Fekiria Haidary is devastated when a systems glitch on her aircraft forces a weapons launch on a safe target. And when the deadly bombing separates Brian from the team, he must make an impossible choice: save his brothers-in-arms, or save the woman and children depending on him to survive a brutal snowstorm.

ABOUT AUTHOR: Ronie Kendig is an award-winning, bestselling author who grew up an Army brat. She married a veteran, and together their lives are never dull with four children and two dogs--a a Maltese Menace and a retired military working dog, Vvolt N629. Ronie's degree in psychology has helped her pen novels of intense, raw characters.

Since launching onto the publishing scene in 2010, Ronie and her books have hit bestseller lists and garnered awards and critical acclaim, including:

2014 INSPY Award Finalist - Talon: Combat Tracking Team Dog2013 HOLT Medallion Winner - Trinity: Military War Dog (Best Book by a Virginia Author)
2013 Selah Award Winner - Firethorn (Fiction - Suspense)
2013 Inspirational Reader's Choice Award Winner - Trinity: Military War Dog (Romantic Suspense)
2012 Christy Award Winner - Wolfsbane (Contemporary Romance)
2012 Lime Award Winner - Firethorn (Suspense)
2012 Carol Award Finalist - Wolfsbane (Romantic Suspense)
Christian Retailing's 2011 Readers' Choice Awards Finalist - Nightshade
2011 Inspirational Reader's Choice Award Finalist - Nightshade (Romantic Suspense)
Named one of the Top 25 Christian Fiction Suspense, Mystery, and Thriller Writers by FamilyFiction (Sept 2011)
2011 FamilyFiction Readers' Choice Awards - 3rd place as New Favorite Author, 8th place with Nightshade for Novel of the Year.
INSPY Award Shortlist final in Mystery/Thriller (Dead Reckoning)
The Christian Manifesto's 2010 Lime Award for Excellence in Christian Fiction (Nightshade)

MY THOUGHTS-Ronie Kendig is one of those authors you automatically turn to when you want action, adventure and military hunk heroes. This book here is about Brian Bledsoe, known to his buddies as Hawk. He is strong, handsome and so filled with anger that his team isn't sure they can control him anymore. Nothing and nobody gets in his way... except a small Muslim woman named Fekiria.

There is action galore and it is so full of military macho men that I felt like I was at a base. Nobody writes like Ronie Kendig and I think Hawk is in my top three list of her books. Personally I still love her first series and Wolfsbane is my favorite out of them all. This one will not disappoint her readers and you will find yourself counting down the days til the next installment in the Quiet Professionals series!

Destiny by Don Brown Book #Review

DESTINY
By DON BROWN

ABOUT BOOK: Three men. Three armies. One letter. One destiny.
When World War II hits Walter Brewer's family in the worst possible way, he is torn between his love for two women, his family, and his country. A rural postal carrier in his hometown of Jamesville, North Carolina, Walter has no idea his life is about to become entwined with a Nazi officer and a Royal Naval commando. Will he survive his mission over France as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne, or is the ultimate sacrifice Walter's destiny?

This much-anticipated prequel to Don Brown's acclaimed Navy Justice series is packed with the ravages of love and war, romance and family, and ultimately the power of faith.
ABOUT AUTHOR DON BROWN: A former U.S. Navy JAG officer, Don is the author of the Navy Justice series and the Pacific Rim series. Paying no homage to political correctness, Don’s writing style is described as “gripping,” casting an entertaining and educational spin on a wide range of current issues, from radical Islamic infiltration of the military, to the explosive issue of gays in the military, to the modern day issues of presidential politics in the early twenty first century.
Don graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1982, and after finishing law school, continued his post-graduate studies through the Naval War College, earning the Navy’s nonresident certificate in International Law. During his five years on active duty in the Navy, Don served in the Pentagon, was published in the Naval Law Review, and was also a recipient of the Navy Achievement Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.

MY REVIEW-Don Brown is an author well known for writing military books that allow the reader to plunge right in. Destiny is a prequel to the Navy Justice series and I found it to be somewhat different. I actually had a hard time getting started but once I was enveloped in the story, I couldn't tear myself away. This is a very vivid story that paints pictures you will never be able to get out of your head. In my mind I can still see the Jewish Rabbi's daughter on the ground bleeding as the temple goes up in flames outside the house. It is that real as you read this book. I love how he intertwined all the characters together and we see how the choices we make mold our lives and the consequences that arise afterwards. Another thrilling novel from Don Brown!!

Find out more and purchase a copy at the Quilts of Love website.

MY REVIEW-I have really been enjoying the Quilts of Love installments as they release. These books are all written by different authors and it isn't like a story-line where the books flow together, but each one has had something in it that made the book come alive. Masterpiece Marriage was no different and I quickly became engrossed in the story of Mary and Zenus.

Mary is a botanist who is one strong lady!! This character drew me from the start and I felt like she was a kindred spirit. The way she stands up to the people in the cafe and then Zenus made me laugh! Zenus was definitely not a kindred spirit and at first I had trouble connecting with him. His arrogant attitude and thinking that everyone needed to work on his time frame thoroughly had me worried. I appreciate a good hero but I wasn't sure if I would like Zenus at all. Nice thing is that he grows on you. Once you read more of the book you see why he has his problems, as we all do, and what makes him tick. His aunt was another favorite of mine and her spunk matched Mary's. There was a time or two where I laughed out loud, think of meeting a person for the first time and telling them you are going to marry them:D A great book that I really enjoyed.

Learning from a Mouse? Theo: God's Truth with $10 Family Christian Certificate #Giveaway!

Product in this post was received for review from Family Christian Stores. This post may contain affiliate links where I will receive a percentage when you purchase through the link.

Well friends, I apologize for being away from my blog so much recently. I have been sick, still don't feel great, and our internet has been up and down all week. We have it for 10 minutes and then don't have it for an hour. And a couple days it has been out all day. So definitely hard to get work done online without wifi:) I have been dying to tell you all about this review though so here goes. The first time I heard about this series called Theo I wasn't sure what to expect. Theo is a character who lives in an English village. Now the fun part of this show would be the two mice that he teaches. Or they teach him? It goes both ways at times:) And get the names of the mice, Luther and Belfry!! Needless to say, after watching God's Love I knew right away I was going to like them. The latest one I got for review is called God's Truth.

The film is probably for younger children than we have in the house but they still enjoyed watching the program. It is interesting and I love how it teaches theology in a way that younger ones can understand easily. This doesn't just teach moral lessons, this teaches Bible lessons and doctrine in a way I have never seen before through DVD.

If you have young children/grandchildren or you work anywhere with little ones, this would be excellent to pick up. I have passed my copy on to the local library so it can be viewed by everyone. Take a look at the trailer below and see how interesting this is!!

THE GIVEAWAY!!
I was given the chance to host a $10 Family Christian appreciation certificate giveaway for one of my readers. This can be used in store or over the phone. Giveaway is for US only and will end 1/28. Winner will be chosen through Random.org and will have 48 hours to respond or another winner will be picked.

The Soul Painter CFBA Book Tour W/Review

This week, the

Christian Fiction Blog Alliance

is introducing

Soul Painter

WhiteFire Publishing (March 15, 2014)

by

Cara Luecht

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

A Word from the Author:
I never planned to be a writer. In fact, it took me a while to finish college. But I did, and here I am. And I now I can’t imagine not being a writer.

By day, I am an English Instructor at MATC, Marketing Manager for Degnan Design Builders, Inc., mother to four amazing children, wife to an eternally patient and supportive husband, and Worship Leader for Living Hope Fellowship in Sun Prairie, WI. In the evening, when I can squirrel away some quiet time, I read and write historical fiction.

I have a B.A. in English Lit. from UW Whitewater and an M.F.A in Creative Writing from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, NJ.

If you have a question for me, or if you are local and would like me to stop by your book club or writer’s group, please drop me a line via the “Ask the Author” tab. I always love the opportunity to meet with others who share my love of books.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Miriam paints the future…but can she change it?

Chicago – 1890

Miriam watches the people jostle their way below the windows of her warehouse home, never thinking to look up at her as she paints their faces. But Miriam's gift as an artist goes beyond a mere recording of what is: Miriam paints their futures. Only once was she wrong. One woman doesn't match the future Miriam saw. The bright girl was supposed to grow into a respected businesswoman. Instead, Ione disappears nightly into the shadowed alley next to the cathedral with the other prostitutes. Then one night, while walking through the city fog, Miriam finds Ione broken and beaten. Miriam is forced to open her home to the stranger whose face she knows so well and open her life to change she never could have foretold. Women are missing—some found floating in the river, some never seen again. The deacon from the cathedral is the first to help. Soon Miriam’s solicitor, Michael, aids her in rejoining society so they might uncover the evil at work in the corrupt city...and awakens feelings she had never considered before. Finally engaged with the world she has so long observed, finally stirred by love and friendship, Miriam realizes the responsibility of her gifting. No longer can she just paint what will be. She must now help Ione find the future she is meant to have...and find her own along with it.

If you would like to read the first chapter of Soul Painter, go HERE.

MY THOUGHTS-I had never heard of this book before but after reading the little reveal and first few pages, I was intrigued by the story-line. Not many books that deal with this touchy subject and I found that the author dealt with things amazingly well. I was pulled into the story from the beginning and I felt this empathy with Ione. Young and struggling to provide for her mother and siblings, she was my instant draw. Miriam was a puzzle to me in many ways, especially at the start. The author paints pictures herself and pulls at the readers heartstrings. After reading this book you won't look at things the same way. Excellent job dealing with a gritty problem!

CFBA Tour for Masterpiece Marriage by Gina Welborn w/#Review

This week, the

Christian Fiction Blog Alliance

is introducing

Masterpiece Marriage

Abingdon Press (December 16, 2014)

by

Gina Welborn

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

After Gina Welborn earned a Communications degee from an Oklahoma university, she thought the perfect career choice was working at a news radio station writing commercial copy, public service announcements, and news reports. A PSA writer, sadly, can only be so creative when describing ketchup and Geronimo’s grave. (No, she never combined those two elements in the same script, but now that she thinks about it, she wishes ... ) Thus Gina "retired" to focus on goal, motivation, and conflict within her family before discovering her niche in writing romances. A member of RWA and ACFW, Gina has four published novellas, including one in the ECPA-bestselling Mistletoe Memories, and three short historical romances: The Heiress's Courtship, The Marshal's Pursuit, and Masterpiece Marriage. A moderately obsessive fan of Community, Once Upon a Time, and Chopped, Gina lives in Oklahoma with her pastor husband, their five Okie-Hokie children, a box-lab, two rabbits, four guinea pigs, and a fancy Russian dwarf hamster named Tom Bob Deucalion. Gina is represented by the Steve Laube Agency.

ABOUT THE BOOK

After a flood damages the looms at Zenus Dane’s Philadelphia textile mill and the bank demands loan payment, Zenus turns to his aunt for help repurposing his textiles. Trouble is . . . his aunt has already been hired by the lovely yet secretive Englishwoman Mary Varrs. Eager to acquire his aunt’s quilt patterns, Zenus attends the summer Quilting Bee, a social event his aunt has uniquely designed with the secret purpose of finding Zenus a wife. However Zenus only has eyes for Mary, but Mary has no such desire for him. Though his aunt is determined to design a masterpiece marriage, both Zenus and Mary will have to overcome their stubborn ways. Can he realize that love requires stepping out of his routine? And will she recognize that following her heart doesn’t mean sacrificing her ambition?

If you would like to read the first chapter of Masterpiece Marriage, go HERE.

MY REVIEW-I have been very pleasantly surprised with how much I am enjoying the Quilts of Love series. Each book is written by a different author but they all tie in somehow with a quilt. They range from colonial time period to modern stories today. This one here is probably one of my favorites. There was something that I didn't care for but it was minor compared to how much I liked the story:)

One of my favorite things with this installment was the heroine. I don't often see a leading lady who is a botanist, comfortable in her own skin and with an accent to boot! Mary is from England and I love the way she thinks, dresses and such. I had a bit of trouble liking Zenus at first. What a name for the hero of the story! He comes off as higher class than all the others around him and looks down on most. But we see why that happens a little later in the book. The only thing that I didn't care for in the book were the italicized parts. There happened to be a lot in here and it was things like how the cat appeared, or the never want to go outside dog, etc. Just a little bit too much but it seriously didn't hinder me from reading the book at all. Or from making this part of my top five Quilts of Love series novels!!

HapiMomi Calendar/Scheduling App with #Review

With a family of eight, we are often running hither and yon, trying to figure out how to organize all the vehicles and travel arrangements can be difficult. As a matter of fact, it can be downright impossible at times! Do you know how often we make a trip to the grocery store, pick up groceries and then get back to the house, only to find out that we forgot something? Or one person takes the vehicle to the gym and then we find out that another person was supposed to go over to deposit a check? Many times we end up taking several drives to town that we don't need to if we had just had this app here. The HapiMomi app.

This is an app that allows you to connect with your family or friends(you choose who you want on the list) and there is a calendar for planning trips, a to-do list so you know what you have to do on your trip to town, a shopping list where you can jot down groceries you need to pick up and also a wall where you can just put up a note for anyone to see. This is seriously amazing!

My favorite part is the shopping list. There are many stores already listed but you can add whatever stores you would like. Then you add by subject or category what you need. So for Walmart I can put my veggies in the frozen foods category, buns in the bread category and soaps and shampoo under bath and body. Again, you can make whatever category you would like.

The to-do list is great as well. Say you want to let your husband know you are going to the store and you put that on the organizing list. Then maybe he needs you to pick up salt for the front stairs so he can put that on the wall or contact you through the app so none of it is seen by anybody else. I love this!!! The people on the list can add groceries, tasks or things that need done. I would urge any woman to get this app. Not just mothers but great for co-workers, social friends, etc.
