Athletic Leaks and Just Go Girl!

*****This post was sponsored by the Role Mommy Writer's Network.*****

I am going to start this post off right away by warning the menfolk to stop reading:) Just right now, click that x and close the tab. Believe me, this is not something you all would relate to or be interested in.

Okay, are we safe now? Only ladies reading, right? Today I want to talk about athletic leaks. How many of you ladies out there struggle with this issue or know someone who does? I personally rarely have this problem. But I do know women who do and I know that it can be a big factor in exercise or doing any kind of sport. This can even affect other areas of life and at times it can just be about bladder control, of which you get less control over after having children. So when I was offered to post about Just Go Girl, I knew right away that my readers would be interested. I know it is something that many women don't want to even talk about, but hopefully not anymore with this product. Take a look at why Brooke Solis, mother of five, founded Just Go Girl.

BROOKE'S STORY...
After the birth of her twins, Brooke Solis was determined to find a way to get back into shape. But an issue with athletic incontinence made exercise — particularly high-impact movement and jumping — a real obstacle. With five kids and a busy career as an attorney, Brooke looked to her
workouts as the one hour of the day that she could dedicate to herself but as much as she loved high impact workouts, the incontinence pads that she wore during those workouts made her self conscious and uncomfortable.
It didn’t take much research for Brooke to realize that she wasn’t the only woman dealing with athletic incontinence: Estimates find that 25 million women — from high school athletes and new mothers to women past their childbearing years — share her problem. That’s one out of every three women who may avoid exercise and its physical and mental health benefits because they are worried about athletic leaks.
Never one to bow to a challenge, Brooke decided that if the right product to address the issue didn’t yet exist, she’d create one.
After several trials, Brooke designed a pad that’s not only inconspicuous under form-fitting workout clothes, but is also comfortable and absorbent. While the pads are less bulky than a traditional sanitary napkin, they can hold up to 140ml of urine. She then decided to make the innovative JustGo Pad™, available to all active women as a solution to what can be an embarrassing and uncomfortable problem.

Since its launch, this groundbreaking product has allowed women all over the country to “just go” on their runs, to their group fitness classes and to CrossFit training without frustration or anxiety. As a result, Solis has heard from grateful women of all ages and stages of life. By opening up the discussion about this issue, Solis has created a community where women not only can find an effective solution, but support and encouragement, as well.
Raised in the Midwest, Brooke is a self-proclaimed “Type-A personality.” A graduate of Notre Dame, she worked in the financial sector before attending Yale Law School. A practicing attorney, Brooke currently lives in Austin, Texas, with her husband and family. Her company, JustGoGirl, was launched in January 2014.

When I received my samples I was really impressed. These are basically pads but very, very thin layered. The shape of them allows for wearing shorts, skirts, etc without them being seen. I didn't even realize it was there when I used it for my racquetball. I wore it once just to see how it worked and if it was uncomfortable or visible through the panties. It worked great! We all know how form-fitting pants and workout clothes are and these are wonderful for underneath.

Ladies, I would urge you to go to the Just Go Girl website and order the free samples. You will receive two, in a discreet package, and this allows you to try them and see if they work. They also have subscription options to get them every month. You decide on how many you want. If you know anyone struggling with athletic leaks, head them to Just Go Girl!!

SmartForLife #Weight Loss Challenge! Review and #Giveaway

Well this month has just flown by. I don't believe we are here at the end. In my personal weight loss challenge I have lost about 3 lbs from the beginning of the month. I am happy and hopefully my posts have encouraged some of you all in your journey. I learned yesterday that I will have two other companies joining me in these features so that means more product for you all!! Today I want to tell you about SmartForLife. They sent me several products to try out and I kept some of them as a giveaway for my readers so check it out!!

I was kinda skeptical when I saw what the SmartForLife diet was. They claim that all the food groups on a well balanced plate are in their cookies. And these cookies are only 100 calories. You use these cookies and bars as a meal replacement and are perfect for on the go meals. When I received my box I had been shipped 6 items. I ate three of them and saved three for a giveaway. Some of them are packs of cookies and some are bars. My personal favorite was the Irresistible Winner Chocolate Chip Cookie.

This is a big cookie(100 calories) but it tasted really, really good. Sometimes I hate eating diet foods because they taste horrible and have an aftertaste that takes a while to get out of your mouth. Definitely not the case for these. There was a little bit of a difference in taste from a normal chocolate chip cookie, but that is obviously going to happen. It doesn't have all the junk in it:)

My next favorite was the Banana Chocolate Chip bar. This has a really good flavor and I normally don't like banana in my baked goods. They often have a fake flavor with trying to get the banana. This one was good and it kept me full for longer than I expected. When I eat a granola bar for breakfast, I normally have to eat within about an hour. This one sustained me for several hours.

And the last one I tried was the Irresistible Winner Peanut Butter Cookie!! I just love their irresistible cookies! They really taste good and the flavor is delicious:) This was a nice smooth peanut butter flavor that had just the slightest diet taste. Overall these are something I would purchase to help in my dieting phase and I think they would be a big help!!

So readers, anyone interested in a giveaway? I will be sending out the following three flavors to one of my readers. Peanut Butter Chocolate Bar, Cranberry Cookie and the Caramel Almond Bar. These will go to one winner and US ONLY!! This giveaway will end 6/14 and winner will be chosen through Random.org. They will have 48 hours to respond or another winner will be chosen.

The Heart’s Pursuit | Enter to win a $200 “Romantic Weekend Getaway” from @RobinLeeHatcher.

A jilted bride desperate to save her family from ruin.
A bounty hunter seeking vengeance for a ravaged past.
An arduous trek toward justice–or redemption.

Silver Matlock and Jared Newman know traveling together is a bad idea. Bad for Silver’s already tarnished reputation in her small Colorado town. Bad for bounty hunter Jared’s secret, single-minded mission for revenge. But Silver is determined to track down the rogue who left her at the altar and stole the last remnant of her father’s fortune. And Jared’s in a hurry to hunt down the murderer who destroyed his family–even if Silver is too distractingly beautiful for comfort.
The pair takes off over mountain and desert, past bleak homesteads and raw mining towns, hot on the trail of the two villains who took what wasn’t theirs to take. Soon supplies dwindle, secrets emerge, and suspicion leave Silver and Jared at odds when they need each other most. To confront an enemy deadlier than desert rattlesnakes and rocky cliffs, Silver and Jared must learn to forgive and trust and face the question they haven’t dared voice: What happens next?

MY REVIEW-Robin Lee Hatcher pens a wonderful western story that I finished in one day. The plot of this one is a little bit different than her normal books but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I think some more in this vein would be great!! The scenery is so realistic at times I felt the wind and the rain as Silver and Jared rode across the desert and mountains. Silver is one of those women who can shoot and ride as well as any man. I love how she put up with Jared and his silent treatment. I was kind of put out by her family as her step-mother is a real jerk and her father won't put a stop to anything she does. Jared has to grow on you a bit. He has no problem lying to people or deceiving them and yet you find that he has good qualities and is on a bit of revenge himself. I loved how the ending came about and all the characters finally come together. I would love another book to turn this into a series!!

THE GETAWAY DETAILS-

Robin Lee Hatcher's latest novel, The Heart's Pursuit, is receiving critical praise: "The Old West lives again in this inspirational romantic adventure. . . . Themes of forgiveness, justice and mercy dominate the story and add to the characters' depth. Hatcher treats readers to a rich sensory experience—you can taste the desert dust and smell the smoke and stench of a crowded gambling hall." (Publishers Weekly)

Robin is celebrating the release of her novel by giving away a $200 "Romantic Weekend Getaway."

#Weight Loss Challenge Week 2!

So, how did everyone do last week? Did we all get our mile in each day? I did every day, even though one day I had to push myself. I really did not feel like walking that day at all. But knowing that you guys were behind me and walking with me helped me through. I really appreciate you all!

So, this week I want to focus on a spot treatment. Okay, kind of a spot treatment:) The dreaded squats. I personally do about 100 a day. But I worked up to that. So, I want to start off this week with doing 25 a day. How does that sound for you all? And then by the end of the week, we should be doing as many as we possibly can. Push through them and see how many you can do!! It will really help tighten and tone the lower part of your body. You know the legs that everybody sees:) And let's not forget the other part of our bottom half. Anybody with me on this?? Just leave a comment below letting me know you are in and then we can go from there. Come on and lets change our bodies for the better!!

Signed, Sealed, Delivered from Hallmark Channel!

Signed, Sealed, Delivered
The new original series "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" is a wonderful combination of romance, comedy and drama that follows the lives of four postal detectives who transform themselves into a team of detectives to track down intended recipients of undeliverable mail. Their missions take them out of the office where redirected letters and packages can save lives, solve crimes, reunite old loves and change futures by arriving late but somehow always on time. The team includes charming Oliver O’Toole (Eric Mabius), the group's leader is a man of faith who prayerfully approaches his work with the goal of making a difference in people's lives; new team member, Shane McInerney (Kristin Booth), a technophile who brings 21st century sensibility to the group; free-spirited, “girl next door” Rita Haywith (Crystal Lowe) who has a photographic memory; and lovable Norman Dorman (Geoff Gustafson), a master in conventional research methods.
The show aires SUNDAYS, 8/7c on Hallmark

MY REVIEW-I have previously watched one of these episodes as I thought it sounded like an interesting idea. And it definitely is a neat show. Signed, Sealed, Delivered deals with 4 postal workers who are basically like detectives. They get mail which was undeliverable and then track down the person it was intended for. We meet Oliver who is the head honcho. I really liked his character and the way he portrays himself. Honest, mature and even good looking Oliver is very stable for the rest of the crew. Shane(who is a woman) is really likable as well. In this episode I found her swayed by her emotions and he is kind of the epitome of being led by facts and what is there, not by what he feels. They are a good balance for each other. The other two characters are really funny. Rita is trying out for a post office contest on delivering mail and I found her to be refreshing. A little bit different but in a good way. Not your typical girl character. And Norman is her cheerleader. I really liked him a lot. Sweet and there when Rita needs him:)

The plot was very touching. Like you will want tissues handy when you watch it. The episode deals with a letter that was sent to a bride several years ago. When Oliver and Shane finally track down the woman, they discover that the letter was written in school to be opened at a future time. Needless to say, this installment dealt with downs syndrome and marriage. Two people in love and yet the girls father doesn't think she can marry. Really sweet show and I will admit I teared up a couple times:) The humor is kinda cheeky but very clean and decent for the family. A refreshing development for tv shows!!

Gathering Shadows by Nancy Mehl!! CFBA Tour

This week, the

Christian Fiction Blog Alliance

is introducing

Gathering Shadows

Bethany House Publishers (May 6, 2014)

by

Nancy Mehl

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Nancy Mehl lives in Wichita, Kansas with her husband Norman and their dog, Watson. She’s authored thirteen books and is currently at work on her newest series for Bethany House Publishing.

All of Nancy’s novels have an added touch – something for your spirit as well as your soul. “I welcome the opportunity to share my faith through my writing,” Nancy says. “It’s a part of me and of everything I think or do. God is number one in my life. I wouldn’t be writing at all if I didn’t believe that this is what He’s called me to do. I hope everyone who reads my books will walk away with the most important message I can give them: God is good, and He loves you more than you can imagine. He has a good plan especially for your life, and there is nothing you can’t overcome with His help.”

She and her husband attend Believer’s Tabernacle in Wichita.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Wynter Evans is a promising young reporter for a television station in St. Louis, but even a bright future doesn't take away her pain over the disappearance of her brother nine years ago. So when she stumbles across a photograph of a boy with an eerie resemblance to him, she can't pass up the chance to track him down. With research for work as her cover, she sets out with one of the station's photogs for the place where the picture was taken: the town of Sanctuary.

Almost as soon as she arrives, she meets the town's handsome young mayor, Rueben King, and together they begin to uncover long held secrets that could tear the small town apart and change everything Wynter thought she knew about her life. As the truth of her family's past hides in the shadows, it's clear someone will stop at nothing to keep the answers she's searching for hidden forever--even if the cost is Wynter's very life.

If you'd like to read the first chapter of Gathering Shadows, go HERE.

MY REVIEW-Nancy Mehl is one of those authors you just love to read. The waiting between books is the hardest thing:) And that is saying something when I don't really care for most Mennonite/Amish novels. Her writing style makes reading these a joy and I really like the mystery aspect in them. Many of the characters we have met previously in her other books but this one finally focuses on Rueben. The mayor of Sanctuary. We also get to meet Wynter, or Emily before her name change, who is a reporter doing a story on Sanctuary. The thing she doesn't tell most people is the reason behind her story on this little town. Her brother was kidnapped when he was younger and was never found. She sees a picture with a young man in it who closely resembles Ryan. But some people don't want the publicity she brings to the town and they will stop at nothing to keep their secrets quiet. Again, an excellent story from Nancy!! Now comes the waiting for the next installment:)

My #Review of The Ransom by MaryLu Tyndall.

THE RANSOM BY MARYLU TYNDALL

Port Royal, Jamaica 1692 Living in a city deemed the wickedest in the world is no easy task for Miss Juliana Dutton. To make matters worse, with an ailing father and a drunken fool for a brother, she is forced to take over the running of the family business in order to survive. When a meddlesome suitor threatens to discover her secret and cast them all onto the streets, she agrees to a spurious engagement with the town buffoon, Lord Munthrope. She only hopes the man is trustworthy. The Pirate Earl, Alexander Hyde, son of the infamous Captain Edmund Merrick Hyde, is the most feared pirate in Port Royal. Disillusioned with the religion of his parents and the pleasures of the world, Alex staves off his emptiness by leading a dual life to hide his deepest secrets. A long-time enemy is out to destroy Alex and take Juliana for his own. Struggling to maintain her faith in the Divine, Juliana faces her problems bravely, but the harder she tries, the more it seems everything is working against her. Unwittingly, she and her weak fiancé become entangled in the hostility between the Pirate Earl and his enemy, while even more dangerous forces are rising up to destroy them all.

MY THOUGHTS-MaryLu Tyndall is known as the queen of pirate fiction. Personally I love her writing and can't wait until her next novel arrives!! They are always well written and the characters feel realistic. I mean, I would love to meet the Pirate Earl or Julianna in person:) That Pirate Earl could be a bit annoying at times and he was going through trials of his own but man alive, this hero is quite a dashing one!

Julianna is the daughter of a shipping merchant who is slowly dying. Her mother is long gone and though she has a brother he is pretty much a wastrel, going through their money easily while gambling. So Julianna is left to running the shipping company without letting anyone else know that a woman is in charge. Else they will lose their business. In the midst of all this she has a Navy captain pursuing her and so she accepts the proposal from a popping jay named Munny. He will announce their engagement and keep Captain Nichols off her back and at the same time she will help him keep his father at bay.

The scenes in this book are so well written I could almost feel myself there on the water, or standing in the gardens. And yes, the tavern scenes are just as well fleshed out:) MaryLu has such a way of writing that you can see the gowns on these women and feel the breeze blowing. Maybe even smell the water? And the characters are so entertaining!! Munny is such a hoot and I found myself laughing over him at times. The Pirate Earl is so endearing in all his struggles with life and the search for true peace. Julianna is one of those double characters that is strong and yet so vulnerable at the same time. Sweet and charming but able to stand up to people. She has her struggles of trying to win approval from God by doing more and more for others. And then when she finds herself falling in love with Munny I had to laugh.

There are many twists and turns along the way but it was a great trip. If you like a good pirate story, I would urge you to pick this one up. Excellent novel MaryLu!!

Love Finds You in Sugarcreek, Ohio – THE MOVIE! + Book #Review

Guideposts Books is excited to announce the premiere of a new film based on the book Love Finds You in Sugarcreek, Ohio (Summerside Press) by Serena Miller.

A mysterious outsider casts a long shadow on Ohio’s Amish country. Policewoman Rachel Troyer has always looked after her three elderly Amish aunts, proprietors of a farmhouse inn near Sugarcreek, Ohio. The idyllic town is popular with tourists, who come to sample its famous Amish goods. But one thing is clear to Rachel – Joe Matthews is no tourist. When the bearded stranger lands on her aunts’ doorstep, begging shelter for himself and his young son, Rachel is suspicious.
Will she be able to uncover Joe’s secrets despite her aunts’ – and her own – growing affection for him?

MY REVIEW-I reviewed the book Love Finds You in Sugarcreek, Ohio, not the movie. I have seen the book but because I don't really care for Amish style stories, I have never picked it up to read it. Needless to say, I will never do that again:) I thoroughly enjoyed this novel!! Serena Miller pens a great story that deals with Amish country and a police officer, a woman to be exact. Boy is that a mix for you! At the beginning of the story we meet Rachel and her three aunts. They took her in and they are a hoot for sure. I really liked Anna and her sweet ways. Joe is a man who is hiding from something and yet finds his way to the inn that Rachel's aunts used to run. His little boy was the cutest thing ever!! I was impressed with the different style of writing as my aversion to Amish books mainly stems from the similarity of plots. This one was totally different and I loved it!!

Weight Loss Challenge Walk A Mile A Day!

Good morning everyone!! Today is starting off my weight loss challenge on here. I have been participating in a challenge for quite a while now but I want to get it out there. It always helps to have people aware of what I am doing so I am accountable plus there might be others who want to jump in with me. I am just going to post these once or twice a week and you can jump in on something you would to and do as much as you can. There is no form or anything to fill out, just leave a comment letting me know you are going to try it out and then comment at the end of the week on my last post.

This week my goal is to walk at least a mile every day except Sunday. I normally walk 2 miles 4-5 days a week but for this I want to make sure I do a mile each day. I am going to shoot for more so I may do 2 miles several days. And at times, this may be an exercise DVD such as Leslie Sansone or it could be my treadmill or a walk outside. Just so long as it is a mile. You are welcome to do whatever you can get done. But please, leave a comment and let me know!! I would love to hear from you as you walk with me! Do you like walking at night, early morning, or just when you get a chance? I prefer mine at night when it is a bit cooler. And I love listening to some good music as I walk too.

Stay tuned for more exercise, weight loss and health posts. I will be running several giveaways and doing reviews of products that will help in losing weight over the summer. One of these will be going up later today!

ABOUT SILENCED

A relaxing day of rock climbing takes a disturbing turn when Kayden McKenna’s route leads her to a face-to-face encounter with a dead climber. Is it a terrible accident or something sinister? When the case is handed to the overburdened sheriff, he turns to Jake Westin. With Jake’s past now revealed, he’s ready to use his talent for investigation again-–but he could never prepare for where the case will take him.
Kayden and Jake soon realize that the death was no accident. And worse, it seems the killer is on to them. When strange things begin happening in Yancey, Jake is terrified that once again his world may put someone he loves in danger.
But the truth is far worse than either of them imagine.
