My Fun at the Dentist.

There are times I wish I never had to go to a dentist again. I don't care if it is a Salt Lake City Dentist or one closer to home. And yet I know that they are there for our good and our teeth will thank us after seeing our dentist. The reason I don't care to go to the dentist is one time when I was younger.

I was told that I had extra teeth in my mouth. Sounds kind of creepy to me:) But they had to go in and do surgery to take them out. Now I am not scared of needles, but I don't really care for them and have never met anyone who does enjoy getting a shot. Especially in the mouth. So I went in and was scared to death. Really, I was worried about what would happen, if it would hurt, or if they would find other problems in my mouth. I sat down in the chair and was met by one of the nicest people. He talked me through my fears and answered all my questions. I did great at first, yes the needle pricked and hurt a little bit, but at one point I started feeling sick. The nurse told me that it happens sometimes and they gave me some oxygen to slow down my breathing and help me feel better. Once it was done my mouth was swollen but I couldn't feel a thing. It was only later in the day that I felt nasty.

Many times we look at someone like a dentist and we don't want to go get our teeth worked on or surgery done because we have this unexplained fear. Mine was mainly over getting a shot in the mouth, but there are many things we can fear. A good dentist will work with you on this and walk you through your fears. But, we can always make their job easier as well. If you take care of your teeth there is less of a chance that you will need anything done other than a cleaning. Brush daily, floss regularly and make sure to eat less of those candies and sweets. Your dentist, and your teeth, will thank you!
