Ever Had To Use Roto-Rooter?

How about it folks? Have any of you ever had to use the Roto-Rooter service? I personally have never had the wonderful opportunity of using their services, but I have heard a lot of great things about them and they would be first on my list to call if I ever had a problem. If you have ever had a plumbing problem, you know it can be one of the worst disasters you will ever deal with. Believe me, we have dealt with everything from a backed up sewer that overflowed in the front yard, a meeting at church that backed up the sewer all over the church yard, to frozen pipes on a travel trailer. Yep, you heard me right. We were traveling and didn't realize how cold it was going to get that night. Turns out it was cold enough in north Florida to freeze the trailer pipes. Thankfully nothing happened, probably not cold enough to really do damage, but it sure scared us when we turned on the bathroom faucet and nothing came out. It could have been a big problem if the pipes burst but nothing as bad as that happened. I have heard of some of these horror stories, especially in a trailer or a bus.

So, what can you do if you have a plumbing problem? My first thing to say is, try your hardest to not have a plumbing issue. Whether it is frozen pipes due to the cold or a backed up sewer, this is such a hard issue to deal with. Always easier to prevent than deal with afterwards. And there are so many things you can do to help prevent a problem. During the winter make sure to use plenty of insulation and heat in the house. For those other icky plumbing problems, train the children how to deal with toilet paper, flushing the toilet right, etc. There are times it can't be prevented, but more often than not it can. Back up to the top question, once you have a problem, there are things you can do. With frozen pipes, get a small portable heater and set it up near the cold pipes. Often these are in the basement but you can still warm them up. For a plumbing backup, definitely call for help. It is best left to the professionals:)

Goodbye to Yesterday by Wanda Brunstetter

Join Meredith and Luke Stoltzfus, an Amish couple who are faced with the greatest challenge of their young lives. Financial struggles. Arguments. A confirmed pregnancy. A last-minute trip to South Bend, Indiana. A drug addict on the run. A deadly encounter at a Philadelphia bus station. Will their love and faith be enough to bring them back together again, against all odds?

MY THOUGHTS-This was an enjoyable little book. It is the first in a series of 6 and they are shorter stories with only about 121 pages each. This starts off with Meredith discouraged because the married life isn't what she expected. When they first got married Luke was in love with her and now they almost never talk except to argue and he spends more and more time with his dog, Fritz. His main problem is he lost his job and has not been able to find another one so the whole play of financial struggles is so relative to our day and age today.

Luke finally gets a call from an uncle who wants him to come help in his business but this uncle lives in Indiana, which is quite a drive during the winter time. Meredith has misgivings about the trip but Luke decides to go anyways as this is his way of redemption. There are things at work here that both spouses don't realize and I like how Wanda pulls you both ways. You understand Meredith's fears about her husband going that far in the winter time and how long he will be gone. Yet you also feel Luke's longing to provide for his family and the chance he is given.

The only thing I wish is that the book was longer. It leaves you suspended at the end and you have to wait for the next book, which seems to be coming out later this month. I also think it would have been nice to have less books and more pages to each one. It just seemed kind of hard to get into the book and just as you do, it ends. Still a very good book and I totally enjoyed it!

I was provided a copy of this book for my review purposes. I did not receive any monetary compensation and all thoughts are 100% mine.

The inside of your home should be neatly organized and if it is not that is okay. However, in order to revamp your home and add to its existing state, you might want to focus on reorganizing your interiors followed by focusing on the elements you want for your home. One of the inherent qualities of being a home owner is to keep the place organized and well decorated. Here are some ideas and lovely décor pieces to get you started:

Indoor floor fountains are very trendy and they can rev up the look of your interiors by leaps and bounds. There is also an immense variety in this field and you are free to choose from many designs that you like. First you should find the right store that is known for selling quality floor fountains that will look great in your interiors. After you find a stunning floor fountain at a great site or shop you will be surprised how very easy they are to set up. They most definitely will blend in well with your environment once set up and the aura of the place will be enhanced.

Wall Hangings and Art
There are different kinds of wall hangings and art that you can buy too. This is one décor element that you should make sure fits your personality and the theme of the room. Head to a nearby art studio that has some of your favorite artwork or buy wall hangings online. You will love what you pick out and more importantly it will look flawless in the room as well.
Flowers in Flower Vases
Flowers have the ability to bring instant freshness to both your senses and in a home and they also improve a mood drastically. Having a flower vase in your home will appear ethereal and appealing. What’s more there are different sizes and styles of vases that you can find and place on different furnishings in different interiors. If you have enough space in your room, you should put a large vase in a corner of the room and then fill it with flowers regularly. The presence of fresh flowers will not only help you feel a positive energy, but they will look beautiful in a vase within a charming space too.
Photo Frames
Every room must have its own personalized touch and that’s why hanging photos and even photo frames help you remember the good times. Hang up photos on a canvas, via frames, or even a large frame that is hung on the wall. Photos are an easy way to personalize a space without overdoing it. Choose selectively and implement your favorite pictures that company will enjoy looking at as well when they come and visit.
If you love to design your home when you have free time, you will definitely make use of some of the above tips and then site back and marvel at your own work. No doubt, every home owner will love it when people praise them for a good job on an excellent and stunning interior.

CFBA Tour for Flora's Wish! Hilarious Book!!

This week, the

Christian Fiction Blog Alliance

is introducing

Flora's Wish
Harvest House Publishers (February 1, 2013)

by

Kathleen Y'Barbo

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

RITA and Carol award nominee Kathleen Y’Barbo is the best-selling, award-winning author of more than forty novels, novellas, and young adult books. In all, more than one million copies of her books are currently in print in the US and abroad, and her books have been translated into Dutch, German, and Spanish, to name a few.

Kathleen is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers and Romance Writers of America. She holds a BBA from Texas A&M University’s Mays Business School and a certification in Paralegal Studies, and is a former member of the Texas Bar Association’s Paralegal Division.

A tenth-generation Texan, Kathleen Y’Barbo has four children of her own as well as seven bonus kids she gladly inherited when she married her own hero in combat boots. Kathleen is proud to be a military wife, even if it did mean giving up her Texas drivers license.

ABOUT THE BOOK

May 1887--Flora Brimm is determined the fifth time is the charm. Back home she has a reputation as "Fatal Flora," a woman whose previous four fiancés died in untimely accidents. Flora is desperate to marry, because producing an heir is the only way she can keep her family's estate. She's confident this visit to Eureka Springs with her grandmother will help her land a husband.

Pinkerton detective Lucas McMinn is hot on the trail of Will Tucker, the thief who broke his sister's heart. When he discovers the slippery fellow with Flora, he thinks they are in on the devious plot together. Will Flora be able to convince Lucas of her innocence? Will Lucas catch the elusive Mr. Tucker?

And, more importantly, will Lucas survive if he pursues Flora's heart?

If you would like to read the first chapter of Flora's Wish, go HERE.
MY REVIEW-Kathleen writes in a way that reminds me of Mary Connealy. Her books are infused with good humor that makes reading the story a joy. Flora's Wish is no different and I thoroughly enjoyed being plunged into the lives of Flora and Lucas. If you relish the idea of taking a trip to an earlier age with mystery, pinkerton's and lovely ladies, this is the book to pick up. Be ready for a good laugh and a few lessons learned along the way. Like don't go jumping to any conclusions:) Can't wait for the next book in the series!

Picture Perfect Blog Tour by Janice Thompson

She's trying to focus on her future. How can one man make everything feel so . . . fuzzy?
Hannah McDermott has a successful photography studio. She'll soon be featured in Texas Bride magazine. And she has a celebrity client whose Galveston ceremony will be her ticket to the top spot on wedding coordinator Bella Neeley's list of recommended photographers. But it could all come crashing down around her because of one man: archrival and photographer extraordinaire Drew Kincaid.

As the competition between Hannah and Drew heats up, Hannah is surprised to find that it's not the only thing getting more intense. She can't get the handsome man out of her thoughts--or even out of her line of sight--and the job of her dreams is turning into a nightmare. Will everything she's worked for slip out of her hands? And can she see past her pride to find a picture-perfect love?

With contagious humor and a cast of quirky characters, Janice Thompson gives you crazy bridal-business drama, sweet romance, and a satisfying dose of laughter.

MY THOUGHTS-This is a satisfying romantic comedy that makes you believe in love that lasts:) This is enjoyable and has plenty of funny parts along with times of learning. You meet up with old friends and make new ones that I can't wait to read more of. Of course, the rivalry throughout the book was good as well. There are a lot of characters to wade through and keep up with so keep that in mind. Overall a good book with funny characters, humorous plot and witty conversations. Pretty good!!

Available February 2013 at your favorite bookseller from Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group.

Fun Amish Book for Kids! A New Home For Lily Blog Tour

New town, new house, new friends--and always lots of fun!

Lily Lapp is moving with her family to Pennsylvania to join a new Amish community. In this small town, Lily has to get used to a new school, new friends, and Aaron Yoder, the most annoying boy in the world! But some changes are good, like exploring an attic full of adventure and getting a new baby brother. Still Lily wonders, why can't God bring her just one sister?

MY REVIEW-This is a children's book I was able to get for my little sister to review. She enjoyed the first one so much and loves being able to read a book written by an adult author. Not that the other authors aren't adults, but she likes the adult feel of the book. I am sure you know what I mean:) Anyways, this is the second in the Adventures of Lily Lapp series and I would urge you to get the first book and read them in order. You can understand them anyways but it helps for the younger folks to keep everybody straight. M wrote up a little bit about what she liked and it is below.

M's Review-This is the next book about Lily Lapp and her family. I really enjoyed finding out what happened to them and I can't wait to read the next book. It is interesting finding out about the Amish people and what they do. Of course, it is fun to read about Lily's baby brother as well!

Available February 2013 at your favorite bookseller from Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group.

How To Keep Your Pipes From Freezing + Rotorooter

Howdy everyone!! I am writing in from warm sunny Florida:) At least, it is supposed to be warm. Turns out the weather is a little bit chilly down here as well. But anything is better than the weather up north. As it turns out though, we are headed north and will be running right into a winter storm. Oh well, I guess you can't have everything. But today I am going to give some tips on how to keep your pipes from freezing and in good working order. That way you don't have to call in the big guns from Rotorooter!! But if something does happen, Rotorooter is definitely the place to call for help. They have excellent service and they are known around the world for getting the job done. Anyways, I am not here today to talk about their company, but I wanted to put in a good word for a nice company. As I said earlier, today I am giving tips and hints on how to keep your pipes from freezing. We are talking about a major inconvenience at best here folks. A frozen pipe can lead to burst pipes and then you not only don't have water but you have a mess to clean up as well.

1.Insulation.
Insulating your pipes is my favorite tip on how to keep them from freezing. Most people automatically use insulation year round. But this is not something to play around with. Make sure your pipes have some sort of insulation on them. It is a great way to keep them warm and safe from the cold outside. I know most pipes are under the house or in the basement and it really helps to do this.

2.Leaving the Water Running.
This is something that you have to make your own choice on. At times the weather isn't bad enough for this, but there are definitely times this has saved us from having to deal with the cold. If you will just leave some water trickling in your sinks, you will have water moving through enough to keep it from freezing. Again, you don't want a lot of water as your water will could be outrageous, but this is a big help during the winter months.

So there you have them. My favorite tips for fighting the cold during this chilly season. Let me know if you have any tips for my readers!!

Blog Tour for When the Heart Heals by Ann Shorey

In a country healing from war, can a young woman find healing for her heart?

Courageous and unconventional, Rosemary Saxon served as a nurse during the Civil War, a service that has caused most women in town to regard her as unfeminine and even downright vulgar. Although she would like to put that part of her life behind her, she needs to support herself. She takes a nursing position with Dr. Elijah Stewart, but whenever they are together they always seem to do or say the wrong things. When someone threatens Rosemary, will she find the courage to stand, or will she leave town--and Elijah--forever?

With tenderness and grace, Ann Shorey invites you back to the town of Noble Springs, Missouri, for an engrossing story of love's tentative first steps and fragile future in the face of opposition.

MY THOUGHTS-Ann Shorey writes a story that leaves you wanting more. This is the second in the Sister's of the Heart series and I really enjoyed it. You will meet many of the same characters and fall in love with totally new faces. I liked getting the different takes on a nurse. In that time period many people thought that a nurse was subjected to things she shouldn't be seeing. And I can see where they were coming from. They weren't used to it for sure. But at the same time, a female nurse often helped the situation for another female. I also liked the whole herbs and natural healing aspect. This is a well written book that is a nice read. Not really what I would call suspenseful but overall a nice read.

Available February 2013 at your favorite bookseller from Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group.

As it swiftly becomes apparent the threat Hope faced is only the beginning, the town that’s always stood so strong finds itself divided. MY REVIEW-I have really enjoyed getting to immerse myself in this wonderful mennonite novel by Nancy Mehl. It is the second in the Road to Kingdom series and I would urge you to read them in order. You don't have to but it is best to keep everything in perspective and to keep track of everyone, otherwise it can be a bit much.

My favorite part of this story was the sweet romance between the couple. There is some mystery as well but it is almost a side to the romance. This brings up a very hard subject of resistance and non resistance. What do you do when God says to turn the other cheek but at the same time, you have to provide for your family as well. Excellent perspective here and some well written thoughts and ideas.

If you like a good romance and some mystery, this is the book to pick up. I loved the story and can't wait for the next one in the series. Well written Nancy!!

MY REVIEW-Today I have a review for another excellent book by Jill Eileen Smith. Rebekah is such a well written story I totally fell in love with it. Those of you hoping to get more of a feel and an intimate look into the life of Rebekah and Isaac will be overjoyed to read this novel. Kind of gives you a new look at the biblical characters. Rotorooter and Plumbing

Howdy all!! I can't believe how long it has been since I last posted. I am on vacation for a couple weeks and so I am only doing minimal posting while traveling. This trip has been soo hectic and busy it isn't funny. Last week I barely got on the internet at all because of visiting and being up late. It has been good but also tiring. Anyways, how many of you have used your local Rotorooter? Any of you know what Rotorooter is? Or what they do? I am sure you can tell somewhat from the header but what about specifics? I have to tell you, we have never had to use them, thankfully, but there have been several times it sure has come close! Rotorooter is the company that deals with plumbing in your area. Whether it is a leaky pipe or a toilet that has overflowed or something as minor as a clogged drain pipe, they can easily take care of it.

I remember one time we were having a big fellowship at our church. We are talking hundreds of people over a few days and there were meetings and dinners on the grounds. Well, let's just say the sewer didn't like this at all:) Not that the sewer really had anything to do with it, but with that many people using those toilets, we had a big problem by the end of the one evening. It actually overflowed all over the front yard. A huge puddle with stuff floating in it. And it smelled, bad!! So we got in some port-a-potties as they couldn't get it fixed right away. Of course, we found out afterwards that the kids wanted to run through it and play in the water. Not good at all!! Especially as some of them were barefoot. They were stopped before this occurred, but they all thought it was fun to play in the water.

How about you? Any funny plumbing stories? I would love to hear some of them. Believe me, I have heard ones that would make you puke while others are just hilarious. And my readers love to hear about them too. Tell me about it in a comment!

Three Valentine’s Day Outfits to Consider to Help You Spread the Love

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and what better way to get excited for it than by thinking of the perfect outfit to wear! Whether you plan on spending this day of love with your boyfriend, husband, or with your girlfriends, make V-Day a memorable day by wearing a darling outfit and having fun. Plan some activities and look forward to this happy day while wearing the perfect staple. However, sometimes it’s hard figuring out exactly what to wear. So plan ahead and wear something that you’ll feel both comfortable and look beautiful in on a fun and romantic holiday.

A Red Tunic with Black Leggings – If leggings are your favorite go-to clothing item, then embrace them and pair them with a long and fun tunic. In fact, right now a major trend happens to be tunics with multiple hearts or a single heart on them. Incorporate a heart tunic, a comfy pair of leggings, and a pair of ballet flats for a cute and casual V-Day style. This outfit is perfect for a beach day, having a picnic outdoors, or going to a casual dinner and movie with a girlfriend, for example.

A Heart Print Dress – If you desire to dress up more on this special day of love, pull a heart themed dress out of your closet. If you don’t have one in your closet, you can go shopping right before the 14th. Since hearts are currently trending, you can easily find a heart printed dress on a site like Modcloth or if you’d prefer, save some money by using Express coupon codes on the Sidepon.com website. Coupons will help you find a beautiful printed heart dress that’s both lovely and affordable. It’s time to go on a date with your sweetheart in style.

A Versatile Dress for the Office and Play – Wear a feminine and flirty dress that’s versatile. Actually, due it being versatile, it will be easy to wear it to the office and then later continue to wear it when work is over and it is time to play! A dress that’s made of cotton and comes in a V-Day color such as red, pink, or is covered in bright V-Day hearts is both chic and comfy. It will feel nice to relax at work at your desk in a versatile frock and then after work add a pair of pumps to transform it into an evening staple. Feel comfortable in a romantic outfit and celebrate V-Day in an ensemble that shines.

Whatever you choose to wear on Valentine’s Day, have fun on this day of love and wear what makes you feel confident and comfortable. Whether you choose to spend the day with your sweetheart, family, or friends, have a great day, makes some plans, and stay true to yourself.

Sierra is a freelance writer who enjoys Valentine’s Day and she’s currently searching for the perfect ensemble! Catch up with Sierra on her Ocean Dreams blog.

In todays world of technology, social media and entertainment, online marketing is the #1 way for a company to get business. Think about how it used to be in the old days where word of mouth was pretty much the only way to find customers. You didn't have a laptop or computer on which you could post something and then the whole world could see it at the same time. Do you realize how wonderful this is? And yet I see soo many businesses that have not jumped on this chance to get their company out in the limelight. Believe me, there are places I have seen advertise about their Facebook page that I never thought would have a social page. Such as a dentist or building company, etc. You just don't think of a dentist having a Facebook page:) But at least they are out there getting more customers and people seeing their business. Below are some reasons why I think it is a good idea to get out and market online. There are many more reasons, but these are a couple I know of. And this isn't for businesses only, it works for a small etsy type shop, a blog, or any type of company that sells to a customer.

1.The Reach.
This is a big thing for me with marketing online. You can reach hundreds of thousands of people through social media. Imagine having a billboard on an interstate. A lot of people see that. But when you go with the online route, you get sooo many more people!! It is amazing the amount of people who will read a newsletter, a post on Facebook, or even a tweet. With my blog I see a lot of the exposure a product gets with the amount of readers I get every day. In the same manner this will help a business who wants to get more customers.

2.The Ease.
One factor I think most people don't recognize if the relatively easy aspect of online marketing. No going out door to door like they used to do. You can sit at a desk and send out notes, newsletters, deals, sales, survey's, etc and do it all from the comfort of your chair. It is really a great way to get your exposure!!

Music Training.

Have you ever really, really wanted to do something in your life? Like maybe learning how to play an instrument? Or maybe fly an airplane? I for one always wanted to learn how to play piano. I saw people who played, and I mean very good, and I watched as their fingers ran down the keys and envied their playing without even looking like it was hard work. The times we went to a concert or had someone at church who played well, I wanted to play the same way. Every aspect you can think of with playing music, I wanted to learn it. I read books, watched dvd's, and read tutorials. One aspect I never wanted to get into though was Music Production Training. I guess I am just not into the whole technology part of it. Maybe that is why I never learned to play the way I could have. I don't know, but I do know there are plenty of ways to learn how to play and I wanted to give some tips and info on how I am able to play what I can today.

1.Be Serious.
If you really want to do something, make sure you are serious about it. Say there is someone who wants to learn how to fly a plane? Well, if they get the books, the dvd's and watch people who fly, it won't do them any good if they aren't serious about it. And believe me, people can do all these things and still not go anywhere with it. Make sure this is something you really want. Are you willing to buy the things you need? The accessories and books? What about the time that goes into it?

2.Invest.
If it is worth it, you will want to invest in it. I play the violin and I started out with a cheap instrument. But as I progressed in my playing, I also progressed in my instrument. You will want something that isn't going to break in a year or so, but you don't have to have the most expensive thing out there either. And this is good for anything, not just playing an instrument. Want to learn how to ride? Drive? Put the time and effort into it if it is worth it.

What about you? Anything you ever wanted to do enough that you put the time and money into it? I would love to hear about it so let me know below.

Take A Trip To Alaska!! LFY in Glacier Bay, Alaska with Review!

ABOUT THE BOOK

Singer Ginny Marshall is one signature away from the recording contract of her dreams—a deal that would guarantee success for the former foster child, who still struggles to bury the memories of her painful childhood. But Ginny needs advice from the one person who will look out for her best interests—her former fiancé, Brett Miller. She travels to the remote town of Glacier Bay, Alaska, where the town’s colorful characters and stunning scenery provide respite from LA’s pressures.
In Glacier Bay, Ginny discovers a box of old letters and is swept up in the love story between Clay, an early missionary to Alaska Territory, and Ellie, the woman who traveled there to be his children’s governess. When Ginny is reunited with Brett in Glacier Bay, will she discover—as Ellie did—that healing and love are sometimes found in the most unexpected places?

MY REVIEW-I wasn't sure I was going to like this new LFY book set in the wilds of Alaska. The plot sounded okay but the whole present day vs letters from the past sounded a bit odd. But I have to tell you, I totally fell in love with it!!! Ginny and Brett make such a sweet couple and yet I almost enjoyed the historical letters better. Weaving the letters through the present day romance made for a really great story. One thing I will mention, you better have the tissues handy. I could not believe how many times I cried while reading this book!! Don't get me wrong, it isn't all a mushy romance with tear jerking moments. But some of the points brought up just made me cry. And there is a happily ever after at the end:) This is going into my top ten books I have read this year. It may have just started, but I can't tell you how much I enjoyed it!!
