ABOUT THE BOOK

A Doctor’s Vow.

When he fled Eagle Point years ago, former air force trauma surgeon Mitch Wellington left only broken dreams behind. Now he’s back with a new dream—opening a trauma center in the rural area and saving lives. He hopes to hire the quick-thinking nurse who impressed him during an emergency. But Lauren Bates lost her faith and doesn’t believe she deserves to help anyone. Mitch knows firsthand what loss feels like. And it’ll take all his devotion to show Lauren that sometimes the best medicine is a combination of faith, community—and love.

Eagle Point Emergency: Saving lives—and losing their hearts—in a small Illinois town.

MY REVIEW-Recently I have been very disappointed in the Love Inspired books. They tend to be somewhat corny or the characters aren't likeable, or I just can't get into them. Well, this LI book is one I started and finished in one day! The Doctor's Devotion is written by Cheryl Wyatt and is part of the Eagle Point Emergency Series. The characters are very likable and it is one of those love at first sight romances. But they take it slow, knowing that one of them is leaving in a few months. Lauren's grandfather is such a hoot and when he tries playing matchmaker by throwing Lauren and Mitch together it is really funny.

I found that I learned a lesson while reading this book. Throughout the story Lauren is somewhat miffed and jealous of Mitch's relationship with her grandfather. She feels like her grandfather should be closer to her instead of Mitch, even though Mitch is the one who has been there for him while she was gone. But in the end she figures out that they both can have a relationship with her grandfather, especially when he has done so much for Mitch. This just struck me as something interesting. I know people have a tendancy to get upset when someone is closer to their relative than they are, but there is room for both.

Overall a really good book and one that took me by surprise. I am going to have to go back though and read some of Cheryl's other books as there are characters who I think are in her previous books. Excellent Love Inspired novel! Thank you also Cheryl for signing my book! Such a sweet surprise:)

I received a copy of this book for review purposes. I received no monetary compensation. All thoughts are 100% mine.
