Love's Sacred Song by Mesu Andrews

Hi everyone, this book review is coming a little late because of a small problem with my PO. I received an empty envelope:) Not a huge problem but no way I could do a review of the book that week. So I was shipped another copy and now I am posting my review. I was very impressed with this book and it has given some insight about the time period back then.

Wisdom came as God's gift, but sacred love was forged through passion's fire
Standing in the shadow of his famous father, young King Solomon wavers between fear and bravado, longing for a love that is true and pure--a love that can be his cornerstone.

A shepherdess in the northern city of Shunem, Arielah has known since she first laid eyes on Solomon that it was her destiny to become his bride. When her father secures a promise from Solomon to marry Arielah as a treaty bride to help unite the kingdom, it seems her dreams will come true.

But how can this simple shepherdess live as part of Solomon's harem? Can Solomon set aside his distractions to give himself completely to just one woman? Or will he let duty, deception, and the daily routine divide his heart?

Mesu Andrews expertly weaves the words of the Song of Solomon into this touching story of the power of love from a master storyteller.

MY REVIEW-Those of you who know me know that I am not a big fan of Biblical novels. Mainly because a lot of things are added that probably didn't happen. But I think this book was very well written and historically accurate. The love story of Solomon and Arielah is woven through this book in a manner that is portrayed in the book of Song of Solomon. I loved how this book was written and it staid true to the Bible story. One thing I found amazing was how wild a time it was back then. The disarray of the harem and the northern states of Israel. This is something I knew happend but not to that extent. Mesu really shows this to a great extent in this book.

Just as a disclaimer, there are several spots in here that are pretty explicit, but it is all taken from the Song of Solomon. I would caution you beforehand because it is somewhat shocking reading this in a CF book, but it is all found verse for verse in scripture. It is a love story.

If you are a lover of Biblical history, this is a book you will want to pick up. This shows Solomon's struggle with women and his struggle as well to follow in David's footsteps. A good novel! I really enjoyed it!

Available March 2012 at your favorite bookseller from Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group
I received a copy of this book for review purposes. I did not receive any monetary compensation.

I don't read many stories based on Scripture. It sounds like good. Of course I will have to read the Bible first. Then the story. Thanks for the recommendation.
